Pete Magill’s Younger Legs for Older Runners is on my Must-Read links. The site has a great drill video and I’ve noted a good interview he had with Scott Douglas on Running Times’ podcast, which has helped me slow things down.
Pete now has regularly-updated “Headlines from the World of Running.” YOU MUST CHECK THIS OUT REGULARLY.
- The Science of Sport series on barefoot running? It’s there.
- Interesting LetsRun threads? There (including one on racing when you’ve gotten old and slow).
- Go to a 3-week taper? There.
It goes on and on. Just go and check them out.
I feel like an infomercial selling something. There’s more.
- The futility of cross-training.
- Great new interviews (with Ritz and Kara Goucher) on a new regular running program (RunCenter) from Competitor Magazine.
- The Brain.

Really enjoyed the article on cross training. While it can be a great benefit when you cannot run to help you keep somewhat cardio fit, nothing surpasses running.. to make you a better runner. I’ve always believed that, even though it seems to go against the grain of what most runners around here believe. Not to say cross training can’t be fun, or triathlons aren’t an awesome way to get “in shape,” but to run your fastest and best.. you need to run more.

More? A set of steak knives and a free DVD?
It was bookmarked some time ago. I try and do the drills from the video at least weekly. The Steve Moneghetti interview is worth looking up – a 30:00 at 46 off 100+ km per week. I heard some weeks were up to 140, but who’s counting?
