Last week I posted about Dubai’s refusal to grant a visa to an Israeli member of the WTA, the women’s tennis tour. This was running-relevant because of the United Arab Emirates sponsorship of the Healthy Kidney 10K and the question I had was whether that was a good thing and whether if the sponsorship stuck that race should be included as a NYRR Club-race.

It turns out that the men’s tour, the ATP, has a tournament in Dubai this week. After penalties were imposed on Dubai by the WTA, a visa was granted for an Israeli member of the ATP, although Andy Roddick apparently pulled out of the tournament, of which he was the defending champ, in protest.

Changed behavior. I’m still waiting for a response from NYRR on the issue.
