We did this in the fall, and we’re doing to try it again this summer. On Sunday, June 26, we’ll meet at the parking lot at Sleepy Hollow High School at 9. That time is picked because a train gets into Tarrytown Station at 8:37, and we’ll try to coordinate with people coming up from the City.
For, indeed, one purpose of this is to introduce people to this wonderful place to run. It is not an easy place to run, what with its frequent hills. I put something up on Facebook. But folks should email me for information.

for starters, i won’t be present, so that’s a gratuitous plus…but seriously, this is one of the best places to do non-technical trail running in the tri-state area, so i’d encourage any and all to experience ‘the rockies’ (i’ve at times run there almost daily, working nearby)….however, if there are quite a few who end up doing this run, please realize that this is a borderline ‘urban’ park (carry-in/carry-out is not in effect, but always encouraged). there is only one area (visitor’s center, w/parking fee) for water or restroom. it’s been a rough winter and i know that other westchester running clubs are trying to raise money to help restore the trails (as are the clubs where i currently reside for respective nys state parks trails), so if any of you are inclined after being impressed by the park, please please ‘help’ as well as you can (visitor’s center and online). rockwood hall’s personal to me as the kind, friendly phelps staff let me out (against orders) to walk there in the days after my son was born. a more dramatic view of the tap you will never see
